Robusta Varieties

There are many varieties of Robusta, but due to its special taste and aroma, only several of them are popular. They differ depending on the place of growth.



It is in Vietnam that most Robusta is produced today. The coffee grown there is environmentally friendly. Also, Vietnamese Robusta has a milder taste due to different growing conditions. In its nutty notes, spicy is well traced.

Quilou is used as a part of elite grades. The coffee berries have 9% of aromatic oils, caffeine content – 4%. Alkaloid gives a bitter taste. After roasting, the bitterness becomes less. Cote d’Ivoire

Cote d’Ivoire is considered to be the largest supplier of Robusta on the mainland. Here, coffee is planted together with cocoa on 3 million hectares. Robusta from this country is known for its neutral taste, high saturation, and balance.

Cameroon & Uganda


Robusta from Cameroon has a sweet taste from Uganda – earthy text mixed with the aroma of tropical trees. Uganda’s coffee exports account for 50%. Thirty thousand hectares are set for Arabica, 242 thousand hectares around Lake Victoria are under Robusta. There were half a million coffee farmers in Uganda in the mid-2000s. Here, coffee gardens even have a special name – “shambas.”


This whole bean coffee sort is widely used for mixing and creating instant coffee and espresso. Conilon du Brasil is growing in Brazil. It has a strawberry flavor. Biologists derived new Robusta spices resistant to leaf rust by using Conilon material.



Indonesian robusta is also known as Java Ineak. This type of coffee is produced in India, Cameroon, Uganda, Guinea, and other countries. Of course, Robusta is not characterized by the same richness of taste as Arabica. But it is definitely worth a try.
